Sleeping At Last: “Life is a gorgeous, broken gift. Six billion pieces waiting to be fixed”

This one man band has been on my playlist for more than a year. And it seems like I wouldn’t get tired of listening to his songs.

Like fireworks, we pull apart the dark.

More than the melody of his songs, which are relaxing (though some may be melancholic), Ryan O’Neal’s songwriting is also admirable. I find much beauty when words come together into a wonderful form of poetry and when music comes into play it can become so much less, or so much more. Sleeping At Last’s is the latter.

You are an artist and your heart is a masterpiece.

Other than the wonderful music, what I also find wonderful about this band is the cover art of the albums. Simple and yet touching. The watercolor art by Geoff Benzing give out this relaxing feeling, similar to how the songs would let you feel. I don’t know but I find this amazing.

Your love is my turning page,
Where only the sweetest words remain.
Every kiss is a cursive line,
Every touch is a redefining phrase.

A few of his songs have already been featured in quite a number of TV shows (yes that’s how I came to know about this band) such as Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and Vampire Diaries. 🙂
